Prince Harry is due to return to the UK later this year for the wedding celebration of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, according to a source, but Meghan Markle is not likely to be joining him.

The mega-rich Indian couple wed in Mumbai earlier this month, at a ceremony attended by Sir Tony Blair and Kim Kardashian, amongst others.

Now they wish to continue their nuptial ceremonies in the UK, with Mr Ambani reportedly booking out the whole of Stoke Park until September.

The groom is the son of India's richest man, who in fact owns the seven-star hotel near Slough, but the Duchess of Sussex may not attend due to security reasons.

Harry has been trying to get his taxpayer-funded security restored ever since he and Meghan had their protection level reduced when they left the Royal Family.

While the Sussexes are no longer entitled to the same levels of security as working royals, their need is assessed on a case-by-case basis when they travel to the UK, as it is with other high-profile visitors.

Harry has been fighting Ravec, the committee who determine security for royals and other senior public figures, to have this changed, but in February this year it was ruled that the decision to strip him of his royal level of protection would be upheld.

Recently it was decided that this ruling could be appealed, but it is not likely that a verdict will be reached soon enough to enable Meghan to feel comfortable being in the UK, as she is known to be deeply unpopular here.

Meghan has not been back to the UK since 2022, when she attended the Platinum Jubilee Service of Thanksgiving and later Queen Elizabeth II's funeral, on both occasions with other senior royals.

Harry is thought to be attending the wedding party alone, as a source told The Sun: "The Ambanis don’t do things by halves and so thought nothing of booking the entire venue for two months.

"The bride, groom, and family will attend different parties planned for now and in September.

"Security, which is tightened, has been told to expect Boris Johnson and Sir Tony and Cherie Blair. Prince Harry is also said to be hoping to pop in."

Harry last came back to the UK in May for the 10th anniversary commemorative service for the Invictus Games, although he did not see any of the royals while he was in London.

King Charles met with his younger son briefly in February after news of his cancer diagnosis became public, but they only spent around 45 minutes together.

The Duke told Good Morning America shortly after his return to the US that in spite of everything he hoped to be able to see his family as much as possible this year.
