Queen Camilla has paid her first visit to the English National Ballet since becoming patron earlier this year.

The 76-year-old stunned in a gorgeous blue silk shirtwaist dress by Anna Valentine, accessorised with a ballerina brooch as she was met on arrival by Sir Rupert Gavin, the Chair of the English National Ballet, and Aaron S. Watkin, the Artistic Director.

During her appearance, the Queen watched rehearsals of a new Nutcracker performance and Akram Khan’s reimagined version
of Giselle, which is returning to London in September for the first time in five years. She then had the opportunity to speak to some of the dancers involved.

The English National Ballet, which is currently celebrating its 75th season, continues to add ground-breaking new works to its repertoire whilst celebrating the tradition of great classical ballet, gaining acclaim for artistic excellence and creativity.

During her visit, Her Majesty also observed ENBEldersCo - which is the company’s performance group for over 55’s - in rehearsal before proceeding to the Costume Atelier, where costumes for the English National Ballet are made.

Finally, The Queen joined a reception in the Holloway Production Studio to hear from the company’s staff and dancers.

The Queen returned to work after the summer break on Tuesday, with a visit to a cancer centre in Bath.

Camilla used the visit to give a rare update on King Charles's recent health. She said that the monarch, who was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer back in February, is "doing very well".

Queen Camilla took on the role of patron the Royal Academy of Dance back in May.

Dame Darcey Bussell, who is President of the RAD, said: "This is just wonderful news. HM Queen Camilla has been such an engaged supporter of the RAD for many years. Her patronage will make such a difference to the members of the RAD and she will help encourage all generations to benefit from the many attributes dance."
