The hidden detail in Prince George's new birthday picture you may have missed

To mark Prince George's 11th birthday today, the Prince and Princess of Wales have proudly shared a new image of their eldest son and fans of the young royals may have noted a small detail in the birthday photo that they recognise.

The black and white shot of Prince George shows the future King looking smart and grown up in an open-necked white shirt and dark blazer as he smiles happily at the camera.

On his left wrist, however, you can clearly see a friendship bracelet worn by the young royal, and it appears to be identical to the one Princess Charlotte was spotted wearing when she joined her mum and aunty Pippa for the Wimbledon Men's Final on July 14.

The bracelet worn by George and his younger sister is made from woven multicoloured fabric, and it is thought to be for Taylor Swift fans who swap friendship bracelets at their gigs.

On June 21, George and Charlotte joined their dad, Prince William, for the London leg of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, with both royals and Taylor posting their respective selfies on social media. The two royals beamed and looked delighted to have met the pop star before she began her show.

Princess Charlotte's bracelets caught the attention of royal fans at Wimbledon as they rushed to social media to comment on her cute accessories, with some labelling her as the "ultimate Swiftie".

One fan exclaimed on platform X: "Love Charlotte’s friendship bracelets!"

Another fan wondered if they were inspired by singer, Taylor Swift: "Why do I suspect that Princess Charlotte is wearing a Taylor Swift friendship bracelet? Tell me why I am wrong?"

Prince George's birthday picture was taken by his mum, Princess Kate, in Windsor earlier this month. Accompanying the new snap, the Prince and Princess of Wales said: "Wishing Prince George a very happy 11th birthday today!"

Royal fans have been quick to send their own well wishes to George. X user, @RoyallyBelle_ wrote: "What a handsome boy! Happy Birthday Prince George, have a brilliant day!"

Whereas another said: "HB to a dashing young Prince! And congrats to his mother for another fab photo."

Princess Kate and Prince William have chosen to continue their much-loved tradition of sharing new pictures of their three children to mark their birthdays each year.

Back in April, the proud parents released a sweet picture of Prince Louis to mark his sixth birthday. The following week, to mark her ninth birthday, the couple released a picture of Princess Charlotte to their social media platforms.

Speaking of the adorable pictures, which are much-loved by fans, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk: "It is a charming way through which we can keep in touch with them whilst they are growing up, whilst retaining privacy in their day to day lives."

Discussing George, he added: "Obviously there is the most interest in George who is heir to the throne.

"There is also continued speculation as to whether he will go to Eton or elsewhere. George has been seen a good deal with his father, most recently in Berlin at the Euros Final, which sadly England lost."
