Prince William was right to warn Prince Harry about his whirlwind romance with Meghan Markle, a royal expert has claimed. Prince Harry penned in his bombshell memoir, Spare, that William warned him not to propose out of fear the couple's relationship was moving too fast.

Former BBC royal correspondent, Jennie Bond told the Sun: "He was correct to guide or warn Harry 'are you sure you're not going a bit fast'. I think it came from a good place."

The royal commentator explains the long marriages that have "survived" within the Royal Family so far have had a long courtship, such as with Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh and Prince Edward. She said: "That is one of the most delightfully happy marriages in the Royal Family."

Harry and Meghan's courtship was also compared with the slow-burn romance of Prince William and Kate. Speaking on the Sun's Royal Exclusive show, Jennie added: "Kate was given ten years to peer into the goldfish bowl of royal life."

Despite his brother’s cautions, Harry proposed to Meghan in 2017, just over a year into their long-distance relationship. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's extravagant Royal Wedding took place at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle on May 19, 2018, with a reception hosted by the now-King at Frogmore House. In the memoir, Harry explained how the arrangements for his wedding also drove a wedge between his relationship with his brother.

How much will Trooping the Colour cost the taxpayer?

Tomorrow will celebrate his official birthday in his second Trooping the Colour as monarch, and although his birthday is on November 15, the official celebrations mark a centuries-old tradition.

It is one of the biggest military ceremonies of the year, featuring around 1,600 parading soldiers, 400 musicians and more than 200 horses and is usually wrapped up with a RAF flypast over Buckingham Palace, watched by the Royal Family from the Palace balcony.

The question of funding is once again a topic of public debate – especially given the enduring cost-of-living crisis hitting Brits hard.
