Princess Kate's fashion at Trooping the Colour in previous years has not only showcased her impeccable taste, but also her understanding of the event's cultural and historical importance. Each year, her appearance is eagerly anticipated by fashion enthusiasts and royal fans alike, cementing her status as a style icon within the royal family.

Despite undergoing cancer treatment following her diagnosis earlier this year, Princess Kate's thoughts are firmly with the Royal Family ahead of the King's official birthday on June 15, 2024, at the Trooping the Colour parade.

Kate, who is the colonel of the Irish Guards regiment, said she was sorry to miss the final rehearsal for the event and wanted to show her support for the Colonel's Review by writing a letter to wish them luck.

Recent reports claim Princess Kate is doing well, and many have been holding out hope that she will make an appearance at this year’s Trooping of the Colour which will see more than 1,400 soldiers, 200 horses, and 400 musicians participate in various capacities in "a great display of military precision, horsemanship, and fanfare."

Princess Kate in bubblegum pink

Trooping the Colour, the annual celebration marking the British monarch's official birthday, is a significant event in the UK, not just for its military pageantry but also for the fashion statements made by the royal family. In 2017, Princess Kate opted for a stand-out appearance by dressing in bubblegum pink, a long-sleeved bright pink dress with pleat detailing by her favourite designer, Alexander McQueen. The Princess's outfit was complete with a Jane Taylor hat in the same shade and a pair of diamond teardrop earrings. Her hair was swept into a chignon at the nape of her neck and she rimmed her eyes with dark eyeliner.

Princess Kate pays homage to Lady Diana

Last year's Trooping the Colour was extra special, marking the first celebration since Charles became King. The Princess of Wales arrived at the event in a horse-drawn carriage alongside Queen Camilla and her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Kate wore bright green with her dress created by designer Andrew Gn and the matching hat was courtesy of famed milliner Philip Treacy. The gown featured intricate detailing in the form of jewelled navy buttons.  The Princess of Wales finished the look with Aquazzura emerald pumps and an envelope clutch by L.K Bennett. The Princess of Wales may have been paying homage to Diana through her outfit too, given Princess Diana wore a very similar green look to the Trooping The Colour in 1988.

Princess Kate looks regal in white

Princess Kate looked positively regal in a white Alexander McQueen blazer dress and complementary blue and white Philip Treacy hat in 2022. The duchess opted for a pink lip and brown smoky eye, keeping her hair pulled back in an intricate updo to allow her hat to take center stage.  In the photos of the now Princess of Wales, she can be seen wearing a pair of sapphire and diamond drop earrings that were previously owned by her mother-in-law, the late Diana.

Princess Kate's first Trooping the Colour Appearance

Prince William and Kate made their debut as a newly-married couple at Trooping the Colour in 2011. Kate kept things simple and opted for a black and white monochrome outfit. She chose a white coat by her wedding dress designer, Alexander McQueen, in a double-breasted style with a softly pleated and tiered Samurai skirt. She paired the outfit with a black hat turned up at the edges for the Queen's birthday celebration by designer Lock and Company.

In her first appearance as a mother of two in 2015, the couple welcomed Princess Charlotte the previous month, Princess Kate sported a blue floral outfit by Catherine Walker topped with a white hat. For this occasion, the Duchess wore the Astrid coatdress in silk dupioni, and the hat was the Marisabel style, designed by Sylvia Fletcher for Lock and Co. The designer is a firm favourite of Kate, as she is often pictured in bold outfits by Catherine Walker.
