Fred Sirieix 'thrilled' as he announces huge career news away from First Dates

Fred Sirieix took to social media ahead of the weekend to reveal the exciting role he'll be stepping into starting next month.

The BBC has confirmed that First Dates star Fred Sirieix is one of the people helping with the broadcaster's coverage of the Olympics. Kicking off in Paris on July 26, Fred was announced as part of a stellar guest lineup.

Also joining Fred will be female Olympian Laura Kenny, British long jumper Jazmin Sawyers, Olympic gold medalist Moe Sbihi and Olympic bronze medalist Vicky Holland.

Sharing an image to his Instagram, the 27-year-old revealed that the role he’s being given is a dream come true. He captioned the group snap: “I’m so thrilled and honoured to join the elite team of broadcasters @bbcsport to commentate on the 2024 Olympics with the BBC.

“My dream role has come true! And I’m truly humbled to work alongside the best in the business and share the stage with the world’s finest athletes.

#Paris2024 will be most special and unforgettable for me and my family as we watch Andrea [sic] compete in the 10m platform diving. Go @teamgb! [sic]. See you all in Paris!”

It wasn’t long before people commented on the snap, with many congratulating the Channel 4 star.

His fiance, who goes by the nickname Fruitcake, wrote: “So very proud of you.”

Social media user @Judith_Jof added: “That’s brilliant! So looking forward to the Olympics.”

Another fan commented: “Oh Fred I’m so pleased for you, bravo.”

Follower @Calamityjane1468 added: “Congratulations, I look forward to seeing you.”

With Fred’s daughter Andrea commenting: “So proud [sic] Can’t wait to share memories with you.”

It looks as though she has her dad’s full support as when the BBC asked the French chef who he sees coming away with a medal, he replied: “I would be lying if I did not say my daughter Andrea.

“But many other athletes come to mind, Emily Campbell, Kye White, Adam Peaty and many more.

Leading the BBC Sport’s TV coverage are presenters Clare Balding, Gabby Logan, Hazel Irvine, Isa Guha, Jeanette Kwakye, JJ Chalmers and Mark Chapman.

Coverage of the Olympics kicks off on July 26 through to August 11.
