A Royal commentator has sounded the alarm over Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's potential repeat of a past blunder that once left them red-faced on the global stage.

Royal biographer Tom Quinn has hinted that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could face a devastating blow if they were to lose their lucrative Netflix deal. Amidst swirling rumours, there's talk that their five-year agreement with the streaming giant, set for renewal in 2024, might be axed. Tom said they "would find it impossible to recover from the blow".

Tom dished details on the Sussexes' Spotify debacle, where their partnership was cut short due to insufficient content, causing the pair considerable embarrassment and a keenness to avoid another disaster. "It's very likely to be a repeat of the problem with the couple's Spotify contract which came to an abrupt end in 2023 after Harry and Meghan failed, according to a Spotify spokesperson, to meet 'productivity benchmarks'," Tom said.

Meghan, still smarting from the Spotify fiasco, is hell-bent on triumphing in her business endeavours despite previous hiccups. "It's always been Meghan's dream to build a hugely successful commercial enterprise and she is still convinced even after the Spotify debacle that she has the drive and talent to make this happen. The loss of the Netflix contract would be a major blow and one from which it would be all but impossible to recover," Tom added. "The last thing Meghan wants is the humiliation of trying to set up a deal with a much smaller company - the way things are going even that might not be a possibility."

In 2020, Harry and Meghan secured an impressive £100 million deal with Netflix, shortly after announcing their decision to step back from their roles as senior working royals. The couple relocated to Montecito, California, but their limited Netflix content has left fans feeling somewhat disappointed.

Their docu-series, Harry and Meghan, provided a sneak peek into their new life in America, while Harry's documentary Heart of Invictus chronicled the story of his beloved Invictus Games.

However, Mr Quinn told  the Mirror he believes the couple have under-delivered.

"Harry and Meghan are on the brink of losing their multi-million-dollar Netflix contract for the simple reason that Netflix expected a great deal more from the couple," he said.

Despite the circulating rumours, it's reported that Meghan and Harry are currently working on new projects for Netflix. The former Suits star is teaming up with the streaming service to create a new cooking and lifestyle show under her brand, American Riviera Orchard.

Meanwhile, Harry is embarking on a documentary project about his love for international polo. The Mirror has contacted the Sussexes for a comment.
