Prince Harry has admitted to watching popular royal drama The Crown – but his streaming habit is perhaps even more astounding.

The Duke of Sussex made the unexpected revelation on an episode of Stephen Colbert's The Late Show in 2023 while promoting his memoir, Spare.

A clip from the interview has re-emerged on X (formerly Twitter) which showed Harry opening up about his viewing habits regarding the popular Netflix series.

Asked by Colbert if he ever watched the Netflix hit, he said: "Yes, I have actually watched The Crown. The older stuff and the more recent stuff."

Colbert then jokingly asked the Prince if he had ever found himself 'fact-checking' while watching. Harry playfully mimed jotting down notes and raised an eyebrow as the audience laughed.

But then he took a more serious tone, responding: "Umm... yes I do actually."

This is not the first instance where Harry has openly spoken about the series.

In a revealing dialogue with James Corden during their 2021 rendezvous, he stated: "They don't pretend to be news. It's fiction. But it's loosely based on the truth. Of course, it's not strictly accurate.

"It gives you a rough idea about what that lifestyle, what the pressures of putting duty and service above family and everything else, what can come from that."

The Crown had the nation in a vice grip as it retold the story of our present Royal Family. However, not everyone was tuning in.

Prince William and Kate Middleton refuse to watch the series, despite their love story being a major plot point in its sixth series.

Speaking to Royal author Robert Hardman for his book, The Making of a King: King Charles III and the Modern Monarchy, a source said: "The Prince... rolls his eyes when people say that 'it's just drama.' Yet he will not give it any greater publicity by complaining. He doesn't like the idea of being seen as a complainer all the time."

King Charles is also thought to have stopped watching the series as began to follow his immediate family members. A source said the monarch found the series "too close to the bone" to be enjoyable.
