Princess Eugenie shared an adorable memory from her childhood ahead of a key day in her charity work.

The youngest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson took to Instagram on June 6 to reveal one of her biggest fears when she was young.

Publishing on Instagram Stories a photo of herself playing on the beach, the 34-year-old wrote a message reading: "I LOVE the ocean now but I was actually scared of it as a child."

In the picture, young Eugenie had a huge smile on her face while wearing a blue swimming suit and a matching hat.

As she posed for the picture while playing with sand, the young princess showed her face and arms slathered with sunscreen.

The social media post also included a poll asking the royal's 1.8 million Instagram followers whether they share young Eugenie's fear of the ocean or if they "love" it.

This marvellous throwback picture was part of a trio of Instagram Stories. In one, Eugenie asked her social media followers whether they knew World Oceans Day was fast approaching and in another she asked them to check out Blue Marine Foundation - a marine conservation charity she has been championing for years.

As noted by King Charles's niece, World Oceans Day, an international day catalysing action for a healthy ocean and stable climate, will be celebrated this coming Saturday.

Marine conservation is one of the pillars of Eugenie's charity work, which also includes fighting modern slavery and shedding light on scoliosis, which she suffered when she was a child.

While she has championed campaigns to clean up and protect the oceans for years, Princess Eugenie acknowledged becoming a mum has given her an even bigger push to act.

She previously told Hello! magazine: "Since August came into my life, it's positively impacted my desire to do more. Priorities change when you have children; you want to do everything you can for them - and for your grandchildren. August is only two but I hope that what I'm doing will seep through to him and that one day he takes it on, too."

Princess Eugenie welcomed her first son with Jack Brooksbank, August Philip Hawke, on February 9 2021, while they had their second child, Ernest George Ronnie, on May 30 last year.
