Erik ten Hag has been handed a major transfer boost after the Glazers confirmed they will be increasing his transfer budget to £170million, according to reports. The Dutchman originally only had £120m to work with and spent almost half of that on Mason Mount.
With United in desperate need of a new goalkeeper and a No 9, there were concerns that Ten Hag wouldn't be able to bring in both of his top targets; Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund for just £65m. But with an extra £50m slapped onto the budget, he now has the financial firepower to get the deals done.
United and Inter Milan have agreed a £47.2m for Onana and are now on the verge of signing the goalkeeper. Meanwhile, a price hike from Atalanta for Hojlund from £34m to £51m will no longer be a problem for Ten Hag.
United had offered at least three players in a part exchange deal for Hojlund but will now be able to pay the fee in full should they wish to.

That's going to conclude Express Sport's rolling coverage of the Manchester United takeover.
As the saga enters its final stages, don't hesitate to come back early on Monday morning for a fresh feed on all the latest and greatest stories coming out of Old Trafford.
Manchester United will sign Andre Onana from Inter Milan within the next 24 hours, according to talkSPORT.
Erik ten Hag is in a hurry to recruit the goalkeeper in time to take part in his side's pre-season tour of the USA.
It is thought that Onana will set the Red Devils back around £47.2million, with the Cameroonian coming in as David de Gea's replacement after the Spaniard became a free agent on June 30.
Man Utd are interested in signing Xavi Simons on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, according to L'Equipe.
The Dutchman enjoyed a superb breakthrough at PSV Eindhoven last season, scoring 22 goals in all competitions.
PSG exercised a buy-back clause to bring him back to the French capital, although he is expected to move on again this summer.
RB Leipzig are firmly in the running regarding a loan deal, while United are also in the mix. Simons has teased supporters by claiming that an announcement will be made on Monday afternoon, although United could be left disappointed, with some reports indicating that the Bundesliga side have won the race.
Manchester United defender Harry Maguire released an emotional statement on social media after being stripped of the captaincy by Erik ten Hag on Sunday.
The Red Devils boss now has a tricky decision to make, with four convincing candidates already at his disposal.
Express Sport has already taken a look at who could step up and take the armband...
Manchester United could be in a position to snap up Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka for just £34million this summer.
Sky Germany claim that Bayern would be willing to entertain offers above that figure, which seems reasonable for a 53-cap Germany international with five years of experience at the Bavarian giants.
United are said to be monitoring the situation in case it becomes clear that Goretzka, 28, would be keen on a new challenge.
Harry Maguire took to Twitter on Sunday after being stripped of the Man Utd captaincy by manager Erik ten Hag.
Along with a picture of Maguire holding the Carabao Cup aloft and another of him leading out the team, the defender wrote: "After discussions with the manager today he has informed me he is changing captain. He outlined his reasons to me and whilst I’m personally extremely disappointed, I will continue to give my all every time I wear the shirt.
"So I wanted to say a massive thank you to the Manchester United fans for all their brilliant support whilst I’ve been wearing the armband.
"Since the day I took on the role, three and half years ago, it’s been a huge privilege to lead Manchester United and one of the proudest moments of my career to date. It’s one of the greatest honours in club football. I’ve done everything I possibly could to help United be successful - on and off the field.
"I will always be grateful to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for first giving me the responsibility and I wish whoever now takes it on every success and they will have my full support.
Harry."

Qatari takeover hopeful Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani has reportedly left the Glazers disappointed by his proposal.
According to The Athletic, neither the £5bn bid from Sheikh Jassim nor the similar offer from Sir Jim Ratcliffe is what United's owners 'were hoping for'.
In the Qatari's case, that's because it would mean a clean break between United and the Glazers. Brothers Avram and Joel would supposedly take some convincing to cut ties with the Red Devils completely, and Avram was seen at Wembley towards the back end of last season.
Andre Onana is reportedly set to agree personal terms with Manchester United today. The Athletic claim the fee is very close to being agreed with Inter Milan, which is thought to be roughly £47.2m.
If the medical can be completed in time then Onana will fly out with the rest of the squad on Wednesday for their pre-season tour in the United States.
Manchester United may have a handy low-cost alternative to Rasmus Hojlund who could then allow Erik ten Hag to sign an elite centre-forward next summer instead.
Porto's Mehdi Taremi could become a cheap option in whom the Dutch tactician could rely on if the Atalanta man never arrives at Old Trafford this summer.
Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana is reportedly expected to travel to England today to sign for Manchester United. Erik ten Hag made the ex-Ajax goalkeeper his top target this summer, and he looks set to reunite with the shot-stopper before his side travel to the US for pre-season.
According to Alfredo Pedulla, Inter are pushing to complete the deal now as they are no longer distracted by attempting to negotiate a deal with Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku. They have withdrawn from the race to sign the Belgian international and want to ‘close the deal’. Onana is said to be eagerly waiting to fly to England to put pen to paper on the deal, with his flight to Manchester set to take off today.
West Ham are heavily linked to Harry Maguire with David Moyes said to be a keen admirer of the player.
According to the Telegraph, West Ham would prefer a loan but it is more likely they will be forced to make a permanent offer with United keen to recoup funds for future transfer activity of their own.
United have slapped a £40m price tag on their skipper.
Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe may not hear back about their bids until the end of the transfer window, according to Give Me Sport.
“The good news for Manchester United is that they have been able to move in the transfer market, which was always the case regardless of any prospective new owner.
“But the bad news for Manchester United, in terms of the long-term clarity, is that the window could potentially close or be very close to closing before any prospective new owner – should they come in – has any influence.”

The Glazers are reportedly prepared to hand Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag a £170million transfer warchest this summer, despite the club remaining up for sale. Proposals from Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani are still being weighed up by United's current owners as the transfer window gathers pace.
According to The Mirror, Ten Hag will be given the full £170m he needs to revamp his playing squad over the course of the summer. Mason Mount is already bedding in after completing a £60m move from Chelsea, but negotiations to sign a goalkeeper and a striker are also ramping up.
