The future of Manchester United remains firmly in the balance as more questions begin to be asked of the Glazers and whether the American owners will actually sell up, after eight months of talks and still no announcement. Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe have been waiting patiently to discover their fate but they remain in limbo, with the American family dragging their heels over deciding what lies ahead for Erik ten Hag and the Premier League club, but that has done little to stop their transfer plans this summer.
The club have been busy in the transfer market trying to negotiate deals within their limited budget and Ten Hag has already secured £60million midfielder Mason Mount. Next on his list is a goalkeeper and a central striker, and the Dutchman will be confident of completing those two deals before the start of the season.
But with reports suggesting the Glazers are limiting that budget to £170m, it may tie United's hands in making any further deals while their rivals strengthen. The financial power of Sheikh Jassim and Ratcliffe would mean they could spend more lavishly.
However, as the delay continues in deciding whether their bids will be accepted or turned down, United may suffer for it if the deal is not completed before the end of the transfer window.

Thank you for your company on what has been another long day in the transfer window.
Check back in soon with Express Sport for all the latest comings and going from Old Trafford, as well as the most recent updates regarding the proposed sale of the club as the Glazers continue talks with both Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, reports are now mounting regarding the possible switch of goalkeeper David de Gea to Saudi Arabia, following his exit from Old Trafford.
Football Insider report that the representatives of the Spaniard have already started fielding offers from several clubs.
De Gea was, at one stage, the highest paid player in the Premier League under United's watch, and failed to secure a new deal with the Red Devils because of such lofty wages and the need to drastically cut.
A move to the cash-rich Saudi league would ensure De Gea stays very nicely remunerated for his work.
The saga that shows no sign of slowing down, United retain a very real interest in bringing in Rasmus Hojlund this summer, but will not be held to ransom over a huge price.
The two teams have been locked in discussions, though Atalanta clearly are trying to capitalise upon the fact Erik ten Hag desperately needs a striker this summer, come what may.
After initially being rebuffed when requesting eye-watering fees in the region of £100m, the Serie A side are now down to around the £60m mark, as report Calciomercato.
It is still understood to be more than what United value the unproven forward at, though the discussions are likely to now be much more amicable.
Manchester United could be set to let a fourth goalkeeper leave this summer after David de Gea, Dean Henderson and Tom Heaton.
With Andre Onana and Zion Suzuki lined up as new signings, United are now prepared to let another stopper head out the door.
Sunderland are set to sign reserve goalkeeper Nathan Bishop, who signed from Southend United two years ago but is yet to make his senior debut.
According to Sports Illustrated, Sunderland made an approach for the 21-year-old and the double signing of Onana and Suzuki will allow Bishop to head out.
Manchester United will revive their attempts to sign Rasmus Hojlund once Andre Onana's move has been finalised as Erik ten Hag is keen to sign a striker as soon as possible.
Atalanta want £62m for the 20-year-old, who arrived from Sturm Graz last summer for under a quarter of that fee.
According to The Guardian, United will press on with their efforts to bring in Hojlund at Ten Hag's request.
United have had offers of around £35m and £40m rejected for the Denmark international. And it seems they will have to considerably improve their over to land their third signing.
Manchester United outcast Donny van de Beek has been advised to make a shock switch to join Celtic as Brendan Rodgers can help the midfielder rediscover his passion for the game.
According to former Scotland footballer Alan Hutton, Van de Beek would be a superb capture for the Scottish champions and Hutton, 38, thinks Rodgers is the perfect coach to get the best out of the 26-year-old.
"This is a guy with all the talent and it has just not quite happened for him in the Premier League. He still has a lot of football in front of him," Hutton told Football Insider.
"If Celtic can get a hold of him, I think it would be an outstanding signing. He is very talented, has played at a high level for his whole career, came through at Ajax.
"He has just had a hard couple of seasons and he probably just needs an arm around him, something that Brendan [Rodgers] would probably do."
West Ham are looking to spend their Declan Rice money by lining up a move for Scott McTominay.
The midfielder, 25, is set to leave Old Trafford this summer after Mason Mount's arrival with United looking to fetch around £30m for the Scotland international.
David Moyes is a fan of the energetic Scot as he looks to spend funds raised from Rice's £105m move to Arsenal and Sky Sports report McTominay will be given the choice to decide his future.
The Red Devils are yet to receive an official bid for the midfielder, who has two years left to run on his contract.
Erik ten Hag could be set for one of Manchester United's biggest summer firesales with as many as four squad members up for sale.
There are plenty of fringe players set for exits and could provide a welcome financial boost if buyers can be found.
The likes of Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, Fred, Dean Henderson, Anthony Elanga, Donny van de Beek, Alex Telles, Brandon Williams and Eric Bailly could all depart Old Trafford and Transfermarkt have estimated their combined value at £120m.
The Glazers have not gone eight months without finding a new buyer for Manchester United and the delay is beginning to cause concern amongst the fanbase.
Sheikh Jassim has reportedly had no further contact with the Americans since his fifth bid was submitted. And there is nothing to suggest he is guaranteed to get a response either.
Their statement from November 22 last year read: "There can be no assurance that the review being undertaken will result in any transaction involving the company."
That could be enough of a hint to show why the Glazers have not pushed through a sale, and time may be running out.
Andre Onana is set to become Manchester United's second summer signing after flying in to complete his £43m move from Inter Milan.
The two clubs finally struck an agreement over the fee during negotiations over the weekend and it appears the Nerazzuri have agreed to let him leave, with a replacement found.
Onana will sign a long-term contract after undergoing his medical, with terms already agreed with his representativest, according to BBC Sport.
He will become the second summer signing, following Mount into the club, as United's spending soars past £100m.
