Erling Haaland’s ‘time in England will come’ says pundit
Manchester City think they can win the race for Erling Haaland when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season, according to reports. The Norway international is wanted by Pep Guardiola to replace Sergio Aguero, who is primed to leave the Etihad Stadium behind for a new challenge. But snapping him up won’t be easy with Manchester United and Chelsea also in the mix.
City have seen Aguero shine ever since his arrival from Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window of 2011, back when Roberto Mancini was in charge.
But with the Argentina international now approaching the twilight years of his career, Guardiola is starting to look ahead to the future.
And the Daily Star say the former Barcelona boss is sold on signing Haaland, who is also wanted by Chelsea and United.
It’s claimed they think winning the Premier League title can help them land the Dortmund star, who has scored 14 goals from as many Bundesliga matches this term.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains eager to land his compatriot, despite missing out on a deal in January 2020.

Guardiola signed a contract extension earlier this season on the condition he would be given whoever he wanted to make City the dominant force in English football once again.
And signing Haaland would be the hierarchy’s way of showing him they’re serious about dominating the top flight, as well as Europe.
Guardiola sees the task of replacing Aguero as one of the biggest of his managerial career.

“We’re talking about one of the greats, one of the greatest goal scorers in modern-day football, but he’s not the same Sergio Aguero, so you have to find a different way.
"That will be trying to find the next superstar, be it Haaland, or whoever it is.
“Gabriel Jesus is a very good second striker, he’s someone you want to start games away from home, want him to be involved, he looks like the sort of guy who is happy to play second fiddle at times.
“But you aren’t gonna score as many goals with that team because you haven’t got the young Aguero who was scoring 20-30 goals a season."
