Man Utd likely to factor two players into Philippe Coutinho transfer decision
Manchester United have been linked with Philippe Coutinho ahead of the summer transfer window, with Bayern Munich turning down the chance to sign the Barcelona flop.
Man United: Paul Pogba compared to Coutinho by Marcotti
Manchester United fans can be forgiven for wanting Philippe Coutinho. Sure, he’s flopped at Bayern Munich this summer. And Barcelona before that. But, during his time at Liverpool, he was one of the best players on the planet. Coutinho was sparkling for the Reds and, had he stayed around a bit longer, would have got better with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino all around him.
Alas, we’ll never know for sure. What we do know is, though, that he won’t be at Bayern Munich next season.
A move to the Allianz Arena was meant to be a win for the player, club and Barcelona. A chance for Coutinho to rediscover the magic of old, putting zeroes on his price tag in the process.
But things haven’t worked out.
And, now, Coutinho is in limbo. A £142million misfit, not wanted by Bayern or Barcelona anymore.

His signing means United no longer need Coutinho. Fernandes, at 25, is two years the Brazilian’s junior. And he’s a player on the up, rather than on the wane.
Furthermore, Jack Grealish is also being eyed for the summer.
That’s another reason why United are unlikely to swoop for Coutinho. The Aston Villa star has the backing of Solskjaer, who believes he can be an Old Trafford hit.
The Norwegian wasn’t impressed by Grealish’s decision to breach lockdown rules at the end of March.
But he’s heard only positive things about the 24-year-old and what he can bring his side.
