Man Utd sent a scout to watch Timo Werner says expert
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has RB Leipzig hitman Timo Werner on a list of seven striker transfer targets, reports say. The Red Devils manager is keen to sign a new hitman to replace Romelu Lukaku, who joined Inter Milan last summer. And Werner is one of many who could be making the move to Old Trafford when the transfer window reopens at the end of the campaign.
Back in the summer, Manchester United opted to cash in on Lukaku.
They’d signed the Belgium international from Everton in the summer of 2017 for a huge £75million - and Jose Mourinho expected him to be the ticket to Premier League title glory.
However, Solskjaer decided to sell Lukaku to Inter after deeming the striker an ill-fit for his squad and the way he wants them to play.
United have seen their forwards flourish in the times since with Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood all stepping up.
Odion Ighalo has caught the eye, too, scoring four goals since joining on loan from Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua on transfer deadline day.
And Foot Mercato say United now have Werner and six other strikers on their radar.
Regarding the RB Leipzig star, it’s suggested that the Red Devils are keeping tabs on him - but Liverpool remain frontrunners to sign him.
