Garner would find it difficult to break into United’s midfield at present, particularly given how much the Red Devils have improved in that position.
Bruno Fernandes is currently the toast of Old Trafford having flourished ever since his January arrival from Sporting Lisbon.
United will welcome Paul Pogba back from injury if and when the Premier League campaign resumes, with the France international missing since the 4-1 win over Newcastle on Boxing Day.
Scott McTominay has excelled for the Red Devils this season, continuing his development into a fine central midfielder.
And the likes of Fred and Nemanja Matic have both kicked on and improved having previously looked set for the exit door.
United have given young players a platform to shine ever since Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho as manager in 2018.
As well as Garner, the likes of Mason Greenwood, Brandon Williams and Tahith Chong have all been given their debuts.
Meanwhile, Garner was hailed by Fred - who labelled him as the best young player currently at Solskjaer’s disposal.
“They are great players,” he said when asked about both Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams.
“The club has an important role in using many base players, it has this history of using the kids that come up from the base, it stays in the professional and makes history in the club, and this process is important.
