Each year the winner of Britain’s Got Talent receives a prime slot at the show, and this year was the turn of Lance Corporal Richard Jones.
The magician had been hoping to get a member of the Royal Family on stage for a trick, but viewers will have to tune in to see whether he could convince Charles and Camilla to join him.
Former BGT winners Diversity also performed, as did Dreamgirls star Amber Riley, One Republic, DNCE and ABC.
Comedy came from Joe Lycett, Alan Davies and Rob Beckett, and McFly’s Tom Fletcher read from his new children’s book The Christmasaurus.

Comedian and Britain’s Got Talent judge David Walliams hosted the show at London’s the Hammersmith Apollo.
Ahead of the event, he said: “I’m very honoured and excited to be hosting the Royal Variety Performance. I was lucky enough to host back in 2012 so will be looking forward to another fabulous evening with huge talent.“
Call The Midwife star Miranda Hart was originally set to present but pulled out due to other commitments.
