LW: Anne Hegarty shares thoughts on new quizzers joining show

The Chase star Anne Hegerty shared her 'fears' on new quizzers joining the ITV hit game show as she revealed the real reason why.

Anne, 66, who is also known as The Governess, has been a permanent fixture on the series since 2010 and was the first female to join the Chaser panel.

The ITV hit game show is set to return to our TV screens tonight with a brand new episode to mark its 15th anniversary.

Ahead of the episode, Anne and co-ste Shaun Wallace, 64, appeared on Loose Women alongside panellists Ruth Langsford , Coleen Nolan, Kelly Holmes and Brenda Edwards.

Ruth asked Anne what it was like fitting into a new team as her co-stars had done a series without her. She said: "So what about fitting in because they (the chasers) have done a season without you."

Anne admitted her 'fear' of losing money as she revealed that chasers get paid per show they appear on.

The star revealed: "I remember saying to producers' look I know we get paid per show so when you have three chasers instead of two that means you'll get less money."

She continued: "But they said we know we have to have a woman on the chaser so we are expecting that and you're good."

Opening up about new players joining the show in the future, she added: "When you add a new person, there is this thought that the pie is going to be divided into smaller slices but the other person may be able to make the pit bigger and may make the show more popular and get more viewers and ratings. The number of shows may go up then."
