After weeks of lying about Matty Barton stabbing him, Samson Dingle finally tells the truth but it's not long before a fight kicks off between the Dingles.

After weeks of telling lies, Samson Dingle (played by Sam Hall) is set to clear Matty Barton's (Ash Palmisciano) name in forthcoming Emmerdale scenes.

As fans of the ITV soap will know, Matty is currently being remanded in prison after Samson told the police false allegations over the recent incident at The Hide.

Samson was accidentally injured during an attempted robbery at the bar and restaurant last month. The teen's friend Josh Cope (Osian Morgan) encouraged him to lie and say that Matty stabbed him on purpose, which sparked a feud among the Dingles.

But next week, Samson speaks to the police after his step-mum Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) piled on the pressure. This week's episodes see Lydia realise that Samson is lying about what really happened on the day that he was stabbed at The Hide.

After witnessing Josh threatening Samson and putting pressure on him to continue lying to the police, Lydia suspects Samson is hiding something.

In follow-on scenes next week, Samson receives conflicting advice from two of his closest family members as he plans to skip the village to go travelling with Josh.

Sam Dingle (James Hooton) encourages his son Samson to do a runner as he worries that he'll face big trouble if his lies are exposed.

But Lydia is disgusted by this drastic suggestion and urges Samson to face the music with the police.

Samson chooses to listen to Lydia and visits the police station to share the real story of how he was stabbed. He finally admits that it was an accident and Matty wasn't to blame.

Sam is furious with Lydia for interfering, while other members of the Dingle family also give Lydia a hard time for wanting to involve the police.

Though Samson’s lies have caused a rift between Sam, and his uncle Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), who is also Matty's stepfather. While Moira (Natalie J. Robb) and Cain have sided with Matty, Sam and his wife Lydia originally supported Samson, believing his version of events.

Moira and Cain are pleased that Matty's innocence has been confirmed at last. Moira is hopeful that Matty will be released from prison soon.

Cain's loyalty towards Matty infuriates Sam, which ultimately leads to Sam punching Cain to the ground during a tense encounter at The Woolpack, but his half-brother doesn’t back down.

Cain even pays a stern visit to the Dingle house to make sure that Samson doesn't still intend to run away.

Sam seethes over Cain's meddling, while Samson worries about what might happen to him if he's left alone with a vengeful Cain.

As Matty won't be released immediately, he knows that he has to somehow survive in jail for a while longer as he is tormented by transphobic inmates and fears for his life.

Emmerdale continues weekdays on ITV from 7:30pm
