Prince Harry hinted a potential return to royal duties months ago after the revealation that his father King Charles has cancer.

In an interview with Good Morning America in February, The Duke of Sussex suggested his father's cancer diagnosis could help ease his strained relationship with his family, and could see him return to the UK more frequently.

In the interview, which was held to mark the start of the Invictus Games for injured military veterans, the prince said that he wants to see his family as much as he can, which will involve spending more time in the UK.

His optimism comes four years after him and his wife Meghan Markle quit the Royal Family to become "financially independent".

This left the prince with strained relationships that were further heightened by the 2022 Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, and his memoir Spare which was published just months later.

He said on Good Morming America: "I see it on a day-to-day basis, the strength of the family unit coming together.

"So, yeah, I think any illness, any sickness, brings families together. I see it time and time again, and that makes me very happy.”

Harry then said he personally spoke with Charles about his diagnosis and quickly made a plan to go and see him in person, something he had not done properly since the publication of his memoir Spare in 2023.

Harry said: "I jumped on a plane and went to go see him as soon as I could.

"I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go see and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that.

"I’ve got other trips planned that will take me through the UK, or back to the UK, and so I’ll stop in and see my family as much as I can.”

The suggestion that Prince Harry will “stop in” to see his family prompted rumours about a potential return to the royal fold, however despite King Charles and Princess Kate’s illnesses, the duke has made no sign of returning to royal duties officially just yet, with the royal rift between him and Prince William stronger than ever.

Well-placed sources are also reported to have told The Telegraph that any rumours of Harry making a royal return in the near future are untrue, with the prince remaining settled and happy in California where he has several projects coming up.

It is thought the duke currently has no plans to return to the UK in the coming months.
