Queen Mary of Denmark appeared visibly shaken after she got hit by what looked like a mobility scooter during her visit to Greenland.

The incident took place earlier this month when the Danish queen joined her husband King Frederik and their children Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent for an official visit to the country between June 29 and July 8.

A video which has surfaced on social media showed Mary greeting royal fans in the country's capital Nuuk, before she suddenly got hit by a scooter which appeared to be driven by an elderly man.

The Danish queen appeared to almost lose her balance but did not fall to the ground as she maintained her composure and stood on her feet.

However, the royal seemed shaken up as her security guards quickly jumped in and stopped the scooter from moving forward.

She also appeared to be limping afterwards as she carried on with her plans.

The video was obtained by Danish news agency Ekstra Bladet.

Meanwhile, the scooter driver said he did not "know what happened" after the incident.

It is understood no charges were brought forward as the Palace was satisfied with the man's account.

According to Sky News Australia, a spectator said he saw "how much it hurt her" as Mary's eyes watered "immediately".

The witness said: "It must hurt to be hit at that speed. The police immediately barricaded and removed her from the situation."

However, the Danish Royal Household emphasised that the queen was not injured during the incident.

Meanwhile, royal fans blasted the royal's security and said their service was "lacking".

One user wrote on Instagram: "That looked deliberate. Atrocious security. Lack of doing their jobs. She definitely got injured, but is keeping that private. Poor Mary."

Another one said: "What utter hopeless security.. I know everyone wants to be close to her but a bit of common sense please..."

A third one added: "Seriously why is this person w a scooter is allowed to get so close to people anyway."
