Prince George's godfather, the seventh Duke of Westminster, will be at the centre of attention tomorrow when he marries Olivia Grace Henson at what has been so far dubbed the wedding of the year.

The Bridgerton-like ceremony is set to take place this Friday, June 7, at Chester Cathedral.

The Duke of Westminster, Hugh Grosvenor - once described as the UK's most eligible bachelor - was yet again named the wealthiest person in the UK under the age of 40 by the Sunday Times.

According to the outlet's 2024 Rich List, the 33-year-old - known to friends as "Hughie" - has a net worth of £10.127billion – which is a substantial increase (£249million) from the £9.878billion he had in 2023.

Hugh also ranked as the 14th (compared to 11th last year) richest person in the UK overall in its Rich List for 2024.

The billionaire is very good friends with George's parents, Prince William and Princess Kate, with the Prince of Wales set to be a guest of honour at Friday's wedding.

William asked Hugh in 2013 to be George's godfather, with the duke attending his christening at St James's Palace in London.

Hugh's father, Gerald Grosvenor, 6th Duke of Westminster, who died in 2016 from a heart attack, was reportedly also very close with King Charles.

The duke was only 25 when he inherited his title and a vast global property empire.

Following Gerald's death, Hugh became the head of The Grosvenor Group, which means he owns several huge areas of London and land as well as over 1,500 buildings all across the world.

Who is the seventh Duke of Westminster?

Hugh Richard Louis Grosvenor, the 7th Duke of Westminster, was born on January 29, 1991, in London. His parents are the late Gerald Grosvenor, 6th Duke of Westminster and his wife Natalia and he is their third child and only son.

The duke was raised at Eaton Hall in Cheshire, the Grosvenor family seat with his three sisters, Lady Tamara, Lady Edwina, and Lady Viola.

Hugh has links to the Russian Imperial House of Romanov through his mother, specifically from Nicholas I of Russia, and also from the Russian writer Alexander Pushkin and his wife Natalia Nikolayevna Goncharova.

The duke attended a state primary school and then the private Mostyn House School. He continued his education at Ellesmere College and then earned a degree in countryside management from Newcastle University.

His 21st birthday in 2012 dominated headlines after it was reported it had cost £5million.

The aristocrat has represented Team GB at Olympic Skeet Shooting competitions overseas and in the UK, while he also led a campaign for the Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre, which was initiated by his father.
