Meghan Markle: Expert on who is 'winning' royal row
In March, Buckingham Palace announced the Duke and Duchess of Sussex chose not to return to the Royal Family. The couple lost various patronages and royal titles. But Robert Lacey have said the couple will “never cease to be royal”.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain, the royal author explained the Sussex royals will not cut themselves off completely.
He told hosts Susanna Reid and Adil Ray: “The point is they will never cease to be royal.
“We will never cease to think of Harry as Diana’s son, and William’s brother.
"At the end of the day, that's the interest they hold for the rest of the world and I think that actually is a reason for hope in the future.
"They are never going to want to cut themselves off."

Since stepping down from the Royal Family in March 2020, the Sussex royals have signed multi-million dollar deals with Netflix and Spotify.
The couple's Netflix deal is reported to be worth an estimated $100 million.
Their Spotify deal is reported to be worth 33 million.
So far, the couple have only released one podcast for Spotify, and ‘Heart Of Invictus’ for Netflix.
Daniela Elser, royal commentator for News.com.au, claimed the Sussex’ secured the deals due to their royal status.
She opined: “Harry and Meghan weren’t hand-picked by Netflix because they are the most talented, thoughtful and creative voices in the room; it’s because they are two of the most famous people in the world right now.
“Sure, the pair probably do have a clutch of worthy ideas and are hungry to throw themselves into their self-appointed mandate to change the world, one stream at a time, but they snagged these contracts because of who his family is.
“Corporate titans aren’t queuing up to work with them because a former TV star and a retired army captain are the most exciting up-and-coming producers they could find; it’s because companies want to be able to send out reams of press releases touting that they have a real life Duke and Duchess on the books.”

Mr Lacey, who wrote ‘Battle of Brothers’, also told GMB he believes Harry and Prince William could reconcile while unveiling Princess Diana’s statue.
He also wrote in his revised book talks of a family negotiation following Prince Philip's funeral were not true, with it also suggesting the brothers had been on bad terms for a while even before Harry stepped back from his royal duties.
He told GMB: “Apparently nothing came of it once they got inside, certainly the report that they had a big family sit-down was sadly denied by both sides.
“I think the feeling was when it came to the Oprah interview, as ghastly as it was with all these family revelations being aired, that was it.
"The feeling was you can't have a serious family negotiation if it's going to be talked about on American television the day afterwards. This would make things a problem."
