Princess Kate and Prince William are taking steps towards launching themselves in the United States, in a move that one source believes has unsettled Meghan Markle.

The Prince and Princess of Wales submitted a key official document to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, as part of their plans to establish their Royal Foundation charity in the USA.

This comes as 42-year-old Kate appears to be easing towards a return to royal duties after she met with members of her Centre for Early Childhood team in Windsor.

The future Queen has not been able to carry out engagements for months following her cancer diagnosis.

According to a source who spoke to OK! Magazine: "Meghan was quite shocked when she found out that Kate and William plan to do more work in America after trademarking their foundation's brand with authorities.

The insider added: "Although they have made a couple of trips to the US, it's not really part of their territory and now Meghan feels they could be moving in on her turf."

Both William and Kate made an initial bid to land the trademark in May 2023, according to documents seen by OK!.

The trademark would stretch across a range of goods and services within the Foundation's remit, including charitable fundraising, educational activities and "healthcare services relating to mental health."

Mental health is an area that Meghan and Prince Harry have focused on extensively in their work in the US.

"For Meghan, it just feels like another blow, as Harry is making more of a life for himself in America and doing big events without her, like the one he did in New York last week", they said.

"And she already knows how popular Kate and William are in the US and with their own Hollywood popularity seemingly dwindling, she doesn't feel comfortable with them making any trips across the pond right now because they will no doubt be a huge fanfare."
