Meghan Markle’s decision not to return to the UK will cause implications for her two children, an expert has warned.

Since quitting life as working members of the Royal Family in 2020, Prince Harry, 40, and his wife Meghan, 43, have been living in California and raising their young children Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.

While the Duke of Sussex has been back to his home country a number of times since for charity work, events and family reasons, Meghan has very rarely returned to the UK, with her last visit being for the late Queen’s funeral in 2022.

With the prince now back in the country again for the Wellchild Awards 2024 without Meghan by his side, an expert has claimed there is a high chance the Duchess of Sussex will not step foot in the country again.

This could impact the couple’s children and the time they end up spending in their father’s home country.

Charles Rae, former Royal Correspondent for The Sun, told GB News: "In terms of Meghan, I'm of the school that does not believe that Meghan will ever return to this country.

"And by implication, it means that the children, unless they're much older, will not be back in this country for the foreseeable future. She's had plenty of ways that she could return with the Duke of Sussex, and she's decided that she doesn't want to.

"She's made one stop over in this country at an airport when Harry was here, he picked her up at the airport, and they flew off for some sort of royal visit.

"But, no, I don't believe that she ever wants to come back to this country, which is a great pity. But she's made her bed, she wants to lie in it, and she's going to carry on staying in California."

Despite recent rumours that Harry wants to return to the royal fold and his home country, sources close to the prince have said he is settled in California and is now living the life he "always wanted" in the couple's Montecito mansion.

The Duke of Sussex is said to spend the majority of his time with his children, taking them out on bike rides or walking his dog along the beach.

His relationship with the Royal Family is believed to still be rocky, with him and brother Prince William still not on speaking terms.
