Politicians won't be invited onto the next series of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!.

MPs hoping for a hefty pay packet for starring on the hit ITV show can think again as the broadcaster has banned politicians from signing up, just months after Reform UK leader Nigel Farage appeared on the series.

A source told The Mail: "They're not doing politicians this year. It's been a heightened year for everyone when it comes to politics, what with the General Election. People have definitely had enough of seeing them on their screens."

One of the show's most controversial signings was former Tory MP Matt Hancock, who entered the jungle in 2022. He was forced to resign as health secretary in June 2021 when CCTV images of him kissing his aide Gina Coladangelo were published in the media.

By kissing Coladangelo, with whom he was having an affair, the 45-year-old admitted that this broke the government's own social distancing rules.

The former West Suffolk MP was reportedly paid £400,000 for his three weeks in Australia, while Farage is believed to be the highest paid celebrity in the show's history, raking in a staggering £1.5million. Both politicians finished in third place.

Following Labour's historical win in the General Election, a number of Tory MPs were tipped to enter the jungle. Potential frontrunners included the country's former leader Rishi Sunak, ex-business secretary Jacob Rees-Mogg and the UK's shortest-reigning prime minister, Liz Truss.

However, they will not be given a spot in the jungle as the insider added: "ITV doesn't like to have the same line-up for more than two years in a row. You've got to change things up."

After his stint in the jungle, Farage repeatedly hit out at the broadcaster as he claimed his life was made "quite unpleasant" while on the show.

"It seems whilst I was in [I’m a Celebrity], one or two people up at the top of ITV were doing their best to make life quite unpleasant for me," the 60-year-old said on his GB News show.

Issuing a direct warning to the channel's director Kevin Lygo, Farage continued: "So I would suggest, Mr Lygo, that I am prepared to ignore your rude, one-handed gestures, the pathetic attempts by some of your staff to stitch me up.

"I’m prepared to forget all of it if we can call a truce. But if you really, really want to go to war with me, I don’t think it will do ITV’s share price an awful lot of good."

Farage claimed ITV bosses deliberately reduced his airtime and showed him naked while showering in the jungle, which sparked frenzy amongst fans. He pointed out that no other contestant was displayed in this state.
