Our Yorkshire Farm's Clive and Amanda Owen have opened up about what really ended their 22-year marriage. Shepherdess Amanda, 50, and farmer Clive, 69, who became household names on the popular Channel 5 series, decided to part ways in 2022 but continue to co-parent their nine children while living in separate homes.

The reality series captured the lives of the couple along with their children, Raven, Reuben, Miles, Edith, Violet, Sidney, Annas, Clementine, and Nancy, as they navigated the challenges of managing Ravenseat Farm in the Yorkshire Dales.

Despite the success of five seasons, the Owens ceased filming, attributing the television show as one of the catalysts for their split.

Reflecting on the toll of her previous life, Amanda revealed that her rise to fame and subsequent media engagements caused a rift in her marriage.

She told the Daily Mail: "Maybe the generation gap had a part to play, but it was hard for him to accept that talking about farming could pay more than actually doing it. The more events I did, the more it annoyed him.

“Clive never liked me being away from the farm, and that led to arguments. I would return home not knowing what to expect or what his reaction would be. I'd feel the tension in the air and await the explosion.”

Amanda said she was “trying to be everything to everyone” and was left feeling “exhausted”.

She continued: “To get away from the atmosphere, I would go to our nearby holiday let... I soon realised I was so much calmer spending time apart from Clive - we both were - and so I began to spend more and more time there.

“We both agreed we were better apart than together with the children spending time in either home as they wished."

Amanda has since moved into the let and the children are free to divide their time between their parents' homes.

Two years on from their split, their relationship has significantly improved and Amanda still considers Clive her “confidant”.

Remarkably, the amicable nature of their split has led them to purchase and plan the restoration of an old farmhouse, which will be documented in an upcoming television series.

The new 10-part series, Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids, will air on More4 on Monday, September 16.

Speaking about the upcoming show, Amanda said: "It is fantastic More4 have given us the opportunity to showcase what we do best, working as a team and battling the elements whilst trying to reinstate the farm next door to its former glory.

"It is no exaggeration to say that filming outdoors on an exposed hill end in Swaledale was at times a huge challenge for the Wise Owl film crew, but their dedication and enthusiasm has never waned.

"This new project has been a huge undertaking for the whole family and one we are excited to be able to share with the viewers at home.”
