It's quite literally the end of the road for the Grand Tour lads.

After two decades, the TV partnership between former Top Gear stars Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May is over.

Earlier this year, when the penultimate Grand Tour special premiered on Amazon Prime Video, all three men alluded that they wouldn't work together again, meaning that a final special, already filmed in Zimbabwe, would be their last.

Also at the time, Richard insisted that all three of them would make the decision, pointing out: "At a place, in a manner and at a time of our choosing."

He added: "We decided a long time ago. The one thing we wanted to be in control of is deciding when and where and how we landed."

And it's apparent that the time has now come as the trio have simultaneously signed off on the dissolution of their company W. Chump and Sons, which produced their shows - the MailOnline reports.

On July 11th, it filed three documents with Companies House – declaring solvency, appointing a voluntary liquidator and making a "special resolution to wind up".

The most recently filed accounts by the company indicate an annual turnover of a whopping £6 million and assets of £3.8 million.

This filing marks the end of a very special era for the three motorheads marking the end of their partnership.

They became firm fan favourites when the trio presented Top Gear together in 2003.

Jeremy, Richard and James fronted the hit show for over a decade and it went on to be the biggest show on the BBC, generating impressive profits for BBC Studios in global sales, and it was followed by global success for the three men on Prime Video's The Grand Tour.

Thanks to their Top Gear days, all three men have become very wealthy – once a jobbing motoring journalist, Jeremy is now believed to be worth £55 million, Richard £35 million and James £31 million.

Top Gear was axed by the BBC last year after presenter Freddie Flintoff was badly injured during filming.
