James Martin’s poignant funeral revelation after brutal facial cancer diagnosis
Saturday Morning star James Martin has made the shocking revelation that he has already planned out a vital part of his funeral.
TV's legendary foodie James Martin has been open and honest about how his cancer diagnosis has provoked him to confront his own death.
The Saturday Morning fave was diagnosed with facial cancer back in 2018, which was the final straw for him in the midst of "one of the most fraught and difficult periods of my life". He had missed his grandfather's funeral, which left him traumatised, and his partner then suffered a terrifying ordeal when their house was burgled while she was home alone.
On top of that, he received a heart-wrenching cancer diagnosis. However, he has taken control of his situation and, astonishingly, already planned out which song he would like the funeral procession to hear when he is laid to rest.
He made the shocking revelation during a recent interview with The Guardian - and his decision might surprise those who know him solely as a TV chef. "All my mates know that I’m obsessed with tractors," he mischievously revealed, before adding that The Combine Harvester (Brand New Key) by the Wurzels would be perfect for his send-off.
He is adamant that he couldn't afford a combine harvester like Kaleb Cooper's, however. "They’re about £750,000 these days, so I can’t afford one - but I could afford a tractor," he quipped.

James' cancer has returned on several occasions despite having surgical intervention, leaving him gasping: "It's a wonder I'm still alive" - but he is hopeful that it can be kept at bay.
Meanwhile, the Saturday Morning star - who films his weekly show at his luxurious Hampshire home - also appears to have found love in the midst of a difficult time.
He split with former girlfriend Louise Davies last Christmas following a 12-year relationship sparked by meeting on the set of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
He is now loved up with Kim Johnson - and the pair shared a romantic holiday in France together this week.

They were pictured on social media together while staying at the Jardin de Rose B&B, located in a beautiful off-the-beaten-track country hamlet in Vienne.
The pair looked loved up - but James previously revealed one surprising reason why he's unlikely to ever tie the knot.
He told the Daily Mail: "[Marriage] doesn't interest me in the slightest, mainly because I've catered for so many weddings."
"I admire people who do it, that's fine, but I'm quite happy. I don't need to spend 60 grand on a day!"
The new episode of James Martin's Saturday Morning, featuring special guest Kaye Adams of Loose Women and showcasing recipes for sea bream, tortellini and Cornish ray, airs today at 9:30am on ITV.
