Dr Hilary Jones shuts down Strictly speculation despite 2010 Dancing on Ice appearance

EXCLUSIVE: Dr Hilary Jones denies claims he will take to the star-studded dance floor later this year.

Lorraine: Two new Strictly stars announced

Strictly Come Dancing will return to the BBC later this year and while fans are eager to know the full celebrity line-up, Dr Hilary Jones has said he will not be on the list.

Announcements on this year's competitors kicked off earlier this week, with comedian Chris McCausland and JLS’s JB Gill among those confirmed.

However, Lorraine regular Jones shut down speculation of him taking to the dance floor, despite starring on Dancing on Ice in 2010.

The 71-year-old told Express.co.uk: “I enjoyed wearing the sequins and learning how to skate but I wasn’t very good.

“I got to six weeks, which I was pleased to do because I couldn’t even stand on ice to begin with, and I actually managed to complete dances to music.

“So it was a good, steep learning curve but I wouldn’t be in a hurry to put myself through all that again.”

Speaking of starring on Strictly, the TV doctor admitted: “It would be fun but I’m not holding my breath.”

Although Jones said he won't be starring in the BBC competition later this year, 12 stars have been confirmed.

They include Olympic swimmer Tom Dean, Go.Compare advert star Wynne Evans, actress Toyah Willcox, TV doctor Punam Krishan, reality stars Tasha Ghouri and Pete Wicks.

The star-studded list also includes actress Sarah Hadland, X Factor champion Shane Ward, EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick and Gladiator Montell Douglas.

Although two unannounced stars remain to be revealed, it seems Jones will instead focus on his first-ever podcast.

The Dr Hilary Show will continue to offer unfiltered expert medical advice and discuss the ever-changing health and medical landscape.

The healthcare professional has already welcomed Piers Morgan on his weekly podcast, with the promise of more famous guests.
