Charlotte Hawkins opened up about the "wonderful few days" she spent working in Maastricht.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, 49, travelled to the Netherlands to host Dutch violinist André Rieu's concert. Charlotte revealed she has been presenting the conductor's concert for over a decade, but this year she was able to take a break from work and explore the city.

The broadcaster took to Instagram with a gallery of snaps from her trip, including views of the city and shops she visited. In the final video, Charlotte looked incredible in a red floor-length gown as Andre approached her and kissed her on both cheeks.

"A wonderful few days working in Maastricht with @andrerieu!," Charlotte wrote in the caption. "It’s the 13th year I’ve been hosting his concert that goes out in cinemas & it’s always very special."

The mum-of-one continued: "It’ll be out at the end of Aug - more details soon! Just amazing to be a part of his incredible show & interview Andre as soon as he steps off stage.

"Plus this year I got to spend some time looking around Maastricht - beautiful views right by the river, violins everywhere to celebrate Andre, so many shops to visit (including C&A - remember that one!), gorgeous food."

Charlotte added: "Then of course getting to work with the Maestro himself.. it was quite the trip!" It comes after Charlotte opened up about the "extraordinarily tough time" Kate Garraway has been having following the death of her husband.

Derek Draper died in January after a lengthy battle with Coronavirus.

In a recent interview with Best Magazine, Charlotte said: "When Kate lost her husband, Derek, in January, everyone pulled together to support her. She's been through an extraordinarily tough time.

"When you lose someone that you love very much, it's constant pain. You wonder what the way forward will be. It's not a question of getting over it, but learning to live with it."

Derek's tragic death left Kate navigating grief while parenting their two children; Darcey, 18, and Billy, 11, alone. Charlotte praised her co-star's courage, adding: "It's going to take time for Kate to heal, but she knows we're all here for her."
