Sunderland have registered their interest in Sheffield Wednesday striker Jordan Rhodes
The Black Cats currently occupy the final spot in the Championship relegation zone and are bracing themselves for the departure of top-scorer Lewis Grabban next month.
Rhodes has struggled for form since joining the Owls from Middlesbrough in February.
He has been restricted to eight league starts this term, scoring just three goals.
Gary Hooper and Steven Fletcher have been ahead of Rhodes in the pecking order for most of the season.
