Sunderland hope to beat Leeds to the signing of Liverpool forward Ben Woodburn
The 18-year-old Wales international has been given the green light to leave Anfield for the rest of the season.
He has made just one appearance for Liverpool this term and is behind the likes of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino in the pecking order.
According to the Sunday Mirror newspaper, Leeds have enquired about taking Woodburn for the remainder of the season but Coleman hopes that his links to the player will ensure he wins the race.
Former Wales boss Coleman handed Woodburn his international debut earlier this year.
When asked about their interest, he said: ”I will pass your question to [director of football] Victor [Orta].”
