Liverpool star Mamadou Sakho to fight extended drugs ban: UEFA hearing set for Thursday
LIVERPOOL defender Mamadou Sakho will argue he has not flouted drugs laws and should avoid another suspension when he finally faces a UEFA hearing on Thursday.
Mamadou Sakho joined Liverpool from Paris Saint-Germain in 2013
Sakho's lawyers believe they have a robust case to escape any additional ban and insist the centre-back should not have fallen foul of guidelines in the first place.
The complicated case will be heard by UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary board in a Paris hotel, with a decision "in due course".
The France international failed a drugs test after the Europa League tie with Manchester United on March 17 and did not opt for his B sample to be tested after admitting taking a fat burner.
However, his legal team will argue the substance he was tested positive for should not be listed as a prohibitive substance.

UEFA have since been holding their own private investigation as to whether the fat burner does actually contain banned substances.
