Manchester United feel they let David Moyes down during his time at Old Trafford, reports say. The Scot was given a six-year contract upon replacing Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2013. However, he lasted just 10 months before Ed Woodward relieved him of his duties.

Now, United remain as far away from Premier League title glory as they were when things were going south under Moyes.
And the Daily Mail say the Red Devils feel they failed Moyes and ‘let him down’ badly.
United have backed every manager in the transfer market since, with Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer all given huge funds to rebuild the squad.
However, Moyes was only given the signing of Marouane Fellaini - who arrived on transfer deadline day in 2014.
After Moyes, United hoped Van Gaal would be the ticket to the biggest prizes in the game.
However, the Dutchman’s decision to ‘micro manage’ the club stifled players, with the likes of Angel Di Maria and Wayne Rooney suffering.
Van Gaal, the publication says, once tried to teach Rooney how to take a penalty when he was England captain at the time.
A source is quoted as saying: “Van Gaal was viewed as a man who played attacking football but when he came to us he evolved in to an even greater possession based coach than he had been before.
“He didn’t have the top talent he needed to do that and basically he didn’t deliver attacking football at all.
“So that broke one of our four core pillars right from the start. It wasn’t Man United. We would rather win 4-3 than 1-0.”

After Van Gaal, came Mourinho.
He won the Carabao Cup and Europa League titles in his first season at the helm but was axed in December 2018 after falling out with players.
Another source from the Mail says: “The idea with Jose was we would swallow the pill, not get everything we wanted, put up with the chaos but at the same time get this monkey off our back and win the league.
“We knew that tightened, paranoid environment Jose creates at clubs can only last for a while. It cannot survive.
“We knew what we were getting. But we thought he would win us the league first before it exploded.

“But it didn’t work. Again.”
Now, United are hoping Ralf Rangnick can steady the ship until the end of the season.
But the early signs haven’t been promising, with the Red Devils winning just three of their opening six fixtures.
United got back to back wins over Crystal Palace and Norwich, albeit with unconvincing performances.
Yet draws with Young Boys and Newcastle, along with a defeat to Wolves on Monday, have seen the mood inside the club plummet.
