Tottenham's rise up the table thanks to the appointment of Antonio Conte has given the Lilywhites renewed belief that they can go ahead and qualify for the Champions League - although it appears that signings may not be imminent, after Conte revealed he was still yet to speak with club chiefs about his transfer plans.
Spurs splashed out around £100million in the summer on the likes of Bryan Gil, Emerson Royal and Cristian Romero amongst others.
They recouped £30m in sales, leaving a huge outlay under the guidance of Nuno Espirito Santo.
The Portuguese boss was sacked just 10 games into the Premier League season after five losses in seven, with poor performances and below-average football being the reasons for his departure.
And his spending means there may not be funds for Conte to use.

"My expectation is to speak with my club and then to tell them my opinion," the Italian said ahead of Tottenham's cup tie against his old side Chelsea.
"The club will know after I speak the decision they want to make."
The fact that plans are clearly not yet in motion for signings may come as a worry to fans, who are desperate for Conte to be backed.
Tottenham were only eighth when the Italian took over, and they sit sixth at present - just two points behind fourth-placed Arsenal with two games in hand.
With Harry Kane starting to score again, the club will be excited about the prospect of qualifying for the Champions League once again.
