Man Utd: Solskjaer admits he's asked Cavani to 'run less'
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has claimed talks over a new contract for Edinson Cavani ‘will happen in the near future’. The Uruguay international has scored seven times since his arrival on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain back in the summer. And while there’s been talk of a potential move to Boca Juniors, that doesn’t appear likely.
United were condemned by many back in the summer when they signed Cavani, having initially targeted Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.
However, the Uruguay international has established himself as Solskjaer’s main centre-forward over Anthony Martial.
Cavani has scored a respectable seven goals for the Red Devils so far, proving to be worth the club’s faith in him.
And Solskjaer, speaking ahead of his side’s Premier League showdown with Newcastle on Sunday, has revealed talks over a new contract will happen in the near future - with the player’s contract expiring at the end of the campaign.
"I can only say Edinson has done well," said Solskjaer.

"Paul is out, I don’t know how Scott is and I don’t know how Edinson and Donny will be either. They have a chance, I think,” he said.
"We just have to give them until before training on Saturday, because on Saturday we need to pick a team so we'll see how they are. Hopefully they can both be available."
Dean Henderson impressed in the victory in Spain, with the 23-year-old keeping a clean sheet.
Solskjaer has now warned David De Gea that he’s no longer the club’s undisputed No 1, saying: "Of course Dean is in with a shout.
"We'll pick a team Saturday and Dean was very solid against Sociedad.
