Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola should go all out to sign Dayot Upamecano this summer, according to former Arsenal cult hero Perry Groves. Upamecano has only recently signed a new contract at RB Leipzig which runs until 2023. But the Frenchman remains one of the most sought-after defenders in Europe.
City are heavily linked with a move for Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.
But Groves says Upamecano is the man for Guardiola after seeing his performance in the Champions League quarter-final win over Atletico Madrid on Thursday.
And the pundit says City would be justified in paying up to £90million for the 21-year-old.
"If you're looking at a Man City centre-half, Upamecano [on Thursday], when you're looking at his performance, do you not think that's exactly what Man City need?" Groves said on talkSPORT.

"We're going to start today's podcast with Manchester City's pursuit of Napoli central defender Kalidou Koulibaly," McGarry said on the Transfer Window podcast.
"It's our information that City have gotten much closer to concluding a deal for the centre-back.
"In fact, it's reported to us here at the Transfer Window that personal terms are all but agreed with the player himself and that a lot of work in the past few days with regards to agreeing a fee with Napoli has also been successful in terms of making progress."
