Aubameyang ‘drops hint’ to fans over his Arsenal future
Arsenal legend Martin Keown believes Danny Ings has what it takes to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang if the Gunners captain was to leave the club. Aubameyang is out of contract at the end of next season and it is unclear whether he will commit his future to the north London club.
The former Borussia Dortmund man is once again Arsenal's top scorer this season so Mikel Arteta would have to look for a replacement if the club decide to cash in on him this summer.
Ings has scored 20 goals in the Premier League for Southampton this term and Keown is a huge fan of the former Liverpool striker.
“I just feel [Ings] has been outstanding,” Keown told talKSPORT.
"We've known for a long time though, he started out at Burnley and then went to Liverpool.

"I think he is probably rewarding Southampton for the way they stood by him, given him another chance because he was injured for a long time, bad injury, and now he can’t stop scoring.
"He presses really well, he’s hard working. He could slot in anywhere, there would be a lot of clubs that would be interested in this fella if he became available."
Keown says Ings, 27, has already proven he can score regularly at the top level and believes Arsenal should be interested if they were to lose Aubameyang.
Keown added: "He’s doing it now [at the highest level]. Where would he go if he was going to one of the top clubs?

“Would Arsenal be a [possible] club if Aubameyang left? I don't want to speculate. But when you’ve got 20 goals to your name then everybody is interested in you if suddenly you need a striker.
“There’s no doubt the top clubs will be really interested in what he does and he continues to get better and develop and he's still young enough to get better.
“I would rather have Aubameyang, but if Aubameyang is gone you need goals, you’ve got to have players in your team that give you belief to win games and Ings is one of those.
“So yeah, I don’t think I’d be turning him away. I’d be definitely looking at him as a player Arsenal would be interested in.”
