Man Utd ‘most serious contender’ for Sancho signing says expert
Manchester United are so hellbent on signing Jadon Sancho because they believe Daniel James and Mason Greenwood are better-suited in different positions, reports say. The Borussia Dortmund star has been involved in 34 goals from 30 Bundesliga games this season. And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is determined to beat the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, PSG, Real Madrid and Barcelona to the 20-year-old’s signature when the transfer window reopens at the end of the campaign.
It’s an open secret that United want to sign Sancho, with the club’s interest dating back to the forward’s time in the Manchester City academy.
In the three years since the youngster left the Etihad he’s flourished at Dortmund, establishing himself as one of the best performers in the Bundesliga.
United are determined to land him this summer with Solskjaer installed with the belief that Sancho can propel the club back to the top - and back to the glory days.
And the Manchester Evening News say the right wing is the club’s priority because they feel both James and Greenwood would be better off in different positions.
The pair have both been trialled on the flank this season after United missed out on Sancho last summer due to their failure to secure Champions League qualification.
But, with James, United think he’d be more of a threat on the left.

The problem for the Wales international is Marcus Rashford, however, with the England international currently making that spot his own.
For years there have been questions over where the 22-year-old should be deployed, having burst onto the scene under Jose Mourinho as a striker in 2016.
But that debate is over for the time being with Rashford scoring 19 goals for United this season - more than any other player at Old Trafford.
Greenwood has also been placed on the right wing at times this season, often rotating with James.
But United see the 18-year-old talent as more of a centre-forward. He made a brief cameo against Tottenham on Friday and nearly won the game with a late strike.
Out of all the players currently on the market, it’s Sancho who United are dreaming of signing when the transfer window opens again.
“Before the Coronavirus crisis, last season, the 20 clubs in the league made a loss of around €670 million. Perhaps smaller transfer fees and less salary will now be paid to players across the board.
“Investors can dig into their pockets to make up for a deficit. Of course there is an absurdly high TV income in England, but the investors give the clubs completely new opportunities.
“That is why the idea of solidarity in the clubs is also different.
“In the Bundesliga, players have waived their salary so that no one had to be fired in the offices.
“In England, the 20 captains got together and donated some of their salary to the NHS.”
