Man Utd: Cavani ‘won’t change club’s destiny’ says pundit
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made it a priority to add to his attacking option this month and with the recent long-term injury to Marcus Rashford the club are considering making a move to sign Edinson Cavani from PSG, but the club fear making another transfer mistake.
According to The Telegraph, United officials have several reservations about a possible deal and don’t want to repeat the mistakes which were made with the signing of Alexis Sanchez.
Cavani is prepared to leave PSG this month and is considering his options after seeing his opportunities to play become limited, following the arrival of Mauro Icardi on a season-long loan from Inter Milan.
The 32-year-old, who will be out of contract at the end of the season, has only made 14 appearances for PSG this season, during which time he has scored five goals and provided one assist.
However, if United do make a move to sign Cavani, they would need to beat Atletico Madrid and Chelsea to secure his signature.

Cavani’s father has suggested the player would prefer a move to Atletico, although this hasn’t stopped Chelsea keeping tabs on the player.
As it stands no team have met PSG’s £12.6million valuation of the Uruguayan.
Solskjaer is under mounting pressure with fans expressing their dissatisfaction over current performances on the pitch and how recruitment has been handled by club chiefs.

United are yet to sign anyone this month and could be pressured into making a move for Cavani, as they have already missed out on signing Erling Haaland after the Norwegian opted to sign for Borussia Dortmund from RB Salzburg.
The Uruguay intentional has been prolific in Ligue 1 and Serie A and there appears little suggestion he couldn’t continue this in the Premier League.
During his time with Napoli he scored 104 goals in 138 games and so far with PSG he has 198 goals from 293 appearances.
However, United are still paying the price for their decision to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal.
The Chilean arrived at Old Trafford in a swap deal that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan go to the Gunners in January 2018.

But while the winger had scored 80 goals in 166 appearances for Arsenal, his spell at United has been abysmal.
The 31-year-old only managed to score five goals in 45 games, despite being paid a reported £390,000 weekly salary.
United decided to cut their losses and sent him out on loan to Inter last summer, however, the Italian club are reportedly only paying £175,000 of his weekly wage.
This means United are currently paying Sanchez £215,000-a-week to help Inter challenge for the Serie A title.
United are fifth in the table and six points of the top-four places after losing 2-0 to Burnley on Wednesday.
