Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis have both joined on loan this January as the Light Blues hope to consolidate their title bid, but Polster is being seen as a long-term investment.
There is one reservation which MLS reporter Wiebe has about the player, however, and that is his past injuries.
The 25-year-old has endured three separate stints of the sidelines since 2016 due to knee problems, and Wiebe told Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk Podcast: “I think he [has the physical attributes for the SPFL].
“He’s not a guy you’re going to see flying to the touchline with pure speed and pace. He’s quick, strong, but my question, as I’m sure is the same with Rangers, is the health.

Rangers: Chris Sutton praises Gerrard’s ‘brilliant signings’
“Because he had the knee injury and basically missed 2018. But when you bring him in on trial as they did in December, you figure he’s fine.”
The utility man has been one of Chicago Fire’s most trusted performers since arriving in 2015, and Wiebe gave the rundown on the Milwaukee-born player’s style of play.
“[Polster’s best quality is] his versatility and increasing quality in a position which so much of modern soccer goes through, which is outside back [full-back],” the broadcaster said.
“He started in defensive midfield and then moved to right-back in 2017, and he really thrived there.
“He picks up the ball in advanced positions, he’s really good tucking inside, he’s good at combinations in tight spaces because he’s got technical ability from central midfield days.”
