Fans of the long-running BBC sci-fi favourite are still recovering from the incredible news that Jodie Whittaker, 35, will be replacing Peter Capaldi, 59, as the first ever female Doctor.
Now Michelle, 50, who plays Missy on the show, has teased another new development for the Time Lord.
"Now we have got a female Doctor so there is going to be girl on girl," she told the Daily Star.
Doctor Who bosses introduced the Doctor's first ever lesbian companion this year when Bill Potts (played by Pearl Mackie) joined the show.
Michelle Gomez teased a huge new direction for Doctor Who
Michelle hinted that Jodie Whittaker's Doctor will se 'girl on girl' action
It is possible that Michelle's statement could hint at a saucy new direction for Jodie's incarnation of the lead character, as previous Doctors have always engaged in heterosexual relationships.
However, she could be hinting at her possible return to the series, after an explosive finale last season saw Missy apparently killed by The Master (John Simm), a previous version of herself.
She has previously given mixed signals when it comes to discussing a potential comeback for Missy.
"I think that's enough of Missy now," she told TVLine at Comic-Con recently. "It's good to know when to leave the party."
Peter Capaldi will bid farewell to Doctor Who in the Christmas special later this year
However, she went on to add: "It's time to leave for now. It feels like this was a chapter - a perfect chapter, actually - with Steven [Moffat] and Peter.
"I feel very loyal to Peter and I don't know how that would work, but I am willing to find out at a later date," she teased.
Peter will bid goodbye to the legendary role in a hotly-anticipated Christmas Special later this year as he is joined by the First Doctor, David Bradley.
Doctor Who will return with the Christmas Special Christmas Day on BBC One.
