Corrie fans 'turn off' as they slam 'worst storyline' in soap’s 64 years on air

Corrie has been hit with complaints by angry viewers over its “worst storyline yet”.

Toyah (Georgia Taylor) has had a rough few months over in the soap recently. Earlier this year, it came to light that she had a baby when she was 19, after being raped back in the early 2000s. Sadly, the child, Rose, was still-born and Toyah buried the body on the red rec.

Amid all of this, Toyah has also been targeted by sinister Rowan Cunliffe the leader of a cult that sister Leanne (Jane Danson) has been involved with.

After being sued by him, and following her harrowing baby confession, Toyah ended up sleeping with Leanne’s fiancé Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) on the day of Rose's funeral.

And in typical soap fashion, Rowan got his pal to get some snaps of Nick and Toyah in action - and has been using them as a blackmail plot.

But in the soap this week, Toyah was rushed to the hospital after Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) found her doubled over on the floor in agony from severe stomach pains.

But while at the hospital, Toyah was given the surprising news that she is pregnant. The soap icon was left stunned - especially as she recently slept with Nick.

However, fans of the long-running soap are not too impressed with how the storyline is playing out. Over on a Corrie online forum, fans slammed the twist.

“Can't see a way back from this, 3 characters trashed to create another mature mother. Where do all 3 characters go from this, I'm surprised any of them are happy doing this crap,” fumed one person.

Someone else added: “Another new and terrifying low reached. Worst storyline the soap has ever produced. Tasteless, short-term sensationalism designed to drive a wedge through one of the most enduring (and watchable) sibling relationships on the show. Awful.”

A third proclaimed: “I’ve switched off the twaddle it’s not for me. Worst storyline they have done by far.” Another wrote: “History is just rewritten at a whim these days. Surely Georgia Taylor can't be happy with this material?"

The same user added: "Firstly, they invent a dead baby that Toyah conceived through her rape, then she sleeps with her sister's partner and miraculously falls pregnant with his baby despite her well-documented fertility issues in the past?

“What an absolute mess. I won't be returning to the show any time soon, as it's Corrie in name only these days.”

Meanwhile on X, formerly known as Twitter, someone else said: “genuinely the worst thing Corrie has ever done. I think it’s time to pull the plug.” Another angry fan penned: “I stopped watching it yesterday after 5 mins. Rubbish boring plot lines. Didn’t watch tonight’s episode at all.”
