TONIGHT’S episode of Last Tango in Halifax caused a debate among viewers after one of the characters made a joke about Brexit.

The blended family were sat in Caroline’s new kitchen, when Alan’s friend Harry (played by Paul Copely) popped round to make an announcement.
He told them how the house was haunted by an 18th century crook who was hung for counterfeiting coins.
Harry quipped: “We used to have rogues and murderers devalue the currency, now Brexit lot does it for us.”
The joke became a talking point on Twitter, with viewers divided over whether it was funny or not.

Another praised the “genius” of writer Sally Wainwright for including a light-hearted dig at Leave voters in the script.
