A SINGER from the Mexican version of The Voice, Alejandro 'Jano' Fuentes, was shot dead on Thursday in Chicago.

The former contestant was celebrating his 45th birthday when he was caught up in an ambush and shot three times in the head.
According The Chicago Tribune, someone approached the car he was in and ordered him to get out of the vehicle at gunpoint.
However, Alejandro refused and the gunman fired multiple shots, leaving him in critical condition as he was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital.
The Cook County medical examiners stated that the musician was pronounced dead at 2.07pm, and police said on Saturday that no one was in custody over the attack.

Victor Gulley, co-founder of A Taste of Theatre, said of his close friend: "He was one of the most talented people I have ever known.
"He could sing, he could dance, he could write music, perform it and, most importantly he could teach it. I've never met anyone as talented as he was in those arenas."
In 2011, Alejandro was one of the top ten finalists in Mexico's The Voice, called La Voz, and he moved to Chicago three years ago to open a performing arts studio.
