Fox News forced to apologise after 'hiding' damning Trump footage: 'Disgusting'
It seemingly refused to air footage of the US president wearing a baseball cap during a dignified transfer.

Fox News came under fire and was forced to issue an apology after “covering up” footage of US president Donald Trump wearing a baseball cap during a dignified transfer. As the president attended a ceremony for fallen soldiers at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware, the remains of soldiers killed in the war with Iran were airlifted back to America.
But during the solemn occasion, Trump wore a white baseball cap embroidered with ‘USA’ in gold – while those around him wore official uniforms or no hats at all. The accessory is part of Trump’s own line of merchandise, which many viewers branded “disrespectful” during the tragic occasion. Rather than air the footage, Fox News opted to instead air separate footage of a different dignified transfer from December 2025, though it later apologised for the “mistake”.

Weekend host Griff Jenkins said: “We want to acknowledge a mistake made earlier on our program. During our coverage of yesterday’s dignified transfer, we inadvertently aired video from an older dignified transfer instead of the ceremony that took place yesterday.
“We deeply regret the air and extend our respect and condolences to the service members’ families. We honour the sacrifice of those six American heroes.”
However, though the correct footage was finally aired, Trump was edited out of it – and the stream instead concentrated on uniformed soldiers carrying the coffins off the planes.

Fuming viewers turned to social media with complaints, with one penning: “Knowing how disrespectful the baseball hat is, Fox News originally aired an earlier dignified transfer where he didn’t wear the hat. Then Fox News apologised for the ‘mistake’. Now they’re airing the correct dignified transfer, but edited Trump out of it!”
Another fumed: “They got caught. They confirmed it. This is not a mistake. You don’t accidentally air old footage of a dignified transfer. Someone in that control room made a decision. Six Americans died in this war. Their families stood on that tarmac.
“Fox News edited the moment out of existence to protect the man who sent them there.”
Somebody else posted: “This fool has ABSOLUTELY no sense of dignity or appreciation for the moment. It is called the dignified transfer for a reason. Take your damn hat off!”
“Promoting his merchandise at a solemn ceremony. What a cad,” another viewer fumed.
