'Dark and daring' Glenn Close drama will be Killing Eve fans' next obsession
Channel 4 has released a first look image of Glenn Close in her new drama Up To No Good
Glenn Close looks totally different in her latest role as an elderly killer.
The Hollywood star is set to portray a murderer in Channel 4's Up To No Good, adapted from Helene Tursten's short story collections and destined to delight fans of Killing Eve.
The broadcaster shared a first look image on Instagram, showcasing the actress donning a grey bob, fur coat and fur hat, teasing: "Glenn Close is Up To No Good as Maud Oldcastle - a hilariously brusque, cantankerous older woman who also happens to be a ruthless killer."
An official synopsis reads: "Determined to break from a lifetime spent caring for her sister, Maud sets out to claim a long-overdue second act, but when a suspicious young detective investigating a death in Maud's building starts to believe there is more to her than meets the eye, Maud is forced to reckon with her crimes, present and past."
Downton Abbey's Penelope Wilton will play Maud's sister, while Bridgerton's Claudia Jessie steps into the role of the detective, according to the Mirror, reports the Mirror.
The cast also includes Richard E Grant, who is due to appear in the upcoming series of Celebrity Traitors, EastEnders legend Anita Dobson, and Tanya Reynolds, best known for Sex Education.
Ghosts' Mathew Baynton, Game of Thrones' Iain Glen and Meera Syal from The Revenge Club complete the stellar ensemble.
Viewers have declared they "can't wait", with one Instagram user gushing: "I'll watch you in anything lady."
"So cool," remarked one viewer, while another fan wrote: "Glenn Close and Richard E Grant working together? I'm totally in. Looking forward to watch it."
"Can't wait to see Claudia and Glenn together in this," added one admirer, with another crowning Glenn "the Queen".
"Definitely getting Cruella vibes!!! I love it!!!" exclaimed another, drawing comparisons to Glenn's iconic portrayal of Cruella de Vil in 101 Dalmatians.
Speaking as the drama was announced, Glenn revealed that Maud Oldcastle was "not like any character I have played before".
"I am thrilled to be a part of such a stellar team," the celebrated actress went on to say.
Gwawr Lloyd, acting head of drama at Channel 4, said: "Maud is a deliciously dark and daring drama and the amazing Glenn Close will bring a thrilling complexity to the role."
