Love Island 2019: ‘Stop!’ Viewers in TURMOIL as Lucie Donlan makes surprising admission
LOVE ISLAND 2019 contestant Lucie Donlan entered the villa tonight as this yea’r summer of love began. However, it was her opening VT which left viewers with something to talk about.
Love Island 2019: Meet surfer Lucie Rose Donlan
Lucie, 21, was the last single lady to enter the villa at the beginning of tonight’s Love Island, before the contestants were then tasked with coupling up with a male cast member.
Before Lucie was shown meeting the other four girls, viewers got to know the surfer a little better as a VT played of the islander giving fans a greater insight into her life.
As the contestant began talking about what kind of man she was looking for, Lucie explained how she uses the term “bev” to describe someone she’s interested in.
Taking to Twitter, ITV viewers were confused as they believed the term “bev” should be used to talk about an alcoholic beverage.
Stop trying to make Bev happen
In the VT, Lucie tells the camera: “In the villa this year, you’re probably going to hear some new and weird words.”
One such term was ‘bev” and Lucie explained: “Bev is a hot guy, or he can be your boyfriend,” which left viewers flocking to social media.
One fan posted on Twitter: “Stop trying to make Bev happen #LoveIsland,” with a second opining: “A bev is a drink... But I’ll take that too #LoveIsland.”
A third shared: “No b, a bev is a alcoholic drink #LoveIsland,” as a fourth writing: “Lucie stop trying to make bev happen #LoveIsland.”
The flurry of confusion continued, with a fifth stating: “BEVVY DOES NOT MEAN SEXY. END THIS IMMEDIATELY #loveisland."
As the boys started to arrive in the villa, Lucie took a liking to catering company owner, Joe Garratt, 22, but viewers will have to see if the couple go the distance as she did originally step forward for firefighter Michael Griffiths, 27.
As the singletons get to know each other a little better in the coming days, it won’t be long before the first couple gets some alone time in the infamous hideaway.
The cosy getaway from the villa has become renowned for allowing committed couples to spend some much needed time away from the other contestants.
This year, there will be some changes to the hideaway as it’s been revealed a hotter will be awaiting the love birds in a tucked away area of the villa.
However, host Caroline Flack, 39, has let slip one secret the contestants won’t know about the hideaway until they’re in there.
Giving This Morning star Alison Hammond, 44, a first-look at the interior of the villa, Caroline was asked by the presenter: “What secrets can you tell me? Is there any nuggets you can tell me about the Love Island this year?”

The Love Island host told Alison: “In the hideaway this year, there’s a secret compartment, but they [contestants] won’t know.
“They just have to find it,” Caroline continued, before adding there could be some treats awaiting the lucky and loved up singletons.
As the first eleven islanders make themselves comfortable, it won’t be long before the first twist of the series is thrown their way and it could be the arrival of two new contestants.
Ahead of the launch, it was reported 19-year-old pageant stars Molly-Mae Hague and Jazmine Nichol could be set to turn the show on it’s head.
A source told the Mirror: “If they are both interested in the same man it will be very interesting viewing, as both of these girls are very driven and will go after what they want.
“Neither of them is afraid to use tactics to get what they want. There are guaranteed to be fireworks between these two.”
Love Island 2019 continues tomorrow night at 9pm on ITV2.
