Tucker Carlson has claimed that the guilty verdict against Donald Trump in the hush money trial will "not stop" the former US president, and accused the US of "becoming the Third World."

Trump was found guilty on all counts of falsifying business records to cover up a payment to former adult film star Stormy Daniels, marking a historic first as no US president had been criminally convicted before.

Trump, whose sentencing is scheduled for July 11, faces up to four years in prison and substantial fines.

Carlson, wrote on the social media platform X: "Import the Third World, become the Third World. That’s what we just saw.

"This won’t stop Trump. He’ll win the election if he’s not killed first. But it does mark the end of the fairest justice system in the world. Anyone who defends this verdict is a danger to you and your family."

During the six-week trial, 22 witnesses testified, including Daniels.

Following the verdict, Trump addressed the press, labeling the trial a "disgrace" and "rigged," maintaining his innocence.

"I’m fighting for our country. I’m fighting for our Constitution. Our whole country is being rigged right now,"

Trump said. He accused the Biden administration of orchestrating the trial to damage a political opponent and vowed to continue his fight, claiming, "We’ll keep fighting, we’ll fight till the end and we’ll win because our country has gone to hell."

In response, the Biden administration posted a statement stating that "no one is above the law."

The statement read: "Donald Trump has always mistakenly believed he would never face consequences for breaking the law for his own personal gain.

"But today's verdict does not change the fact that the American people face a simple reality.

"There is still only one way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office: at the ballot box. Convicted felon or not, Trump will be the Republican nominee for president."

"The threat Trump poses to our democracy has never been greater. He is running an increasingly unhinged campaign of revenge and retribution, pledging to be a dictator 'on day one' and calling for our Constitution to be 'terminated' so he can regain and keep power.

"A second Trump term means chaos, ripping away Americans freedoms and fomenting political violence - and the American people will reject it this November.”
