Police looking for missing Jay Slater across Tenerife have interviewed several locals claiming they might have seen the 19-year-old watching the football after his last confirmed sighting.

The mayor of the town of Santiago del Teide, Emilio Jose Navarro, claimed multiple reports had come in suggesting Jay Slater was seen watching the Euro 2024 matches after his friends last saw him in Tenerife.

Spanish police are believed to be reviewing footage from the town, which is less than four miles from the Rural de Reno Park – the 19-year-old apprentice bricklayer's last known location.

Mr Navarro said: "We know the police are investigating (the CCTV images).

"They have asked for the town hall’s security cameras and they are also working with the company that handles those cameras."

Jay's family has shared an image from the CCTV footage with the media. It shows a person walking through Santiago del Teide approximately 10 hours after the boy's phone last pinged.

Jay Slater was reported missing after he mysteriously vanished following the last night of the New Rave Generation music festival he had flown into Tenerife for.

The 19-year-old then embarked on an 11-hour walk to a remote AirBnB with two men he had met that evening.

The men, described as British, were briefly interviewed by the Spanish police but have since left Tenerife.

He last spoke to his friend Lucy Law at 8:15 am on June 17, telling her he was lost and had injured his leg. Slater also noted he was dehydrated and his phone was running out of battery.

Ms Law tracked the 19-year-old to the AirBnB and questioned the two men about his whereabouts but claimed he had left the property to buy cigarettes and hadn't returned.

She told Mail Online: "They seemed startled and surprised that I had found them, and I asked them where Jay was.

"They said he had gone out to try and look for cigarettes and then come back and said he was leaving to try and get a bus back into town.

“They just seemed shocked that I had managed to find them and I know the police have spoken to them but I’ve since found out they have left the country. They need to be spoken to properly.”

Jay Slater's phone last pinged at 8:50 am near the Mirador La Cruz de Honda cafe. Local police have called in backup from Madrid to help as they enter the 10th day of searching for Jay Slater.

Dogs “specialised in the search for people on large areas of land” have also been flown in to help.
